A flatbed is a part of a car or other vehicle that is designed primarily for carrying cargo or performing various special tasks. It is basically a flat, usually flat or slightly convex surface on which loads can be placed. The base plate that forms its surface is extremely strong, durable, typically made of steel or other strong metal alloys, and thanks to this, it can withstand significant weights without deforming.

A flatbed usually has side walls that prevent the loads from moving sideways. These side walls can be rigid or, in some cases, foldable. Loads are placed and unloaded through a rear door. In some cases, this door can be folded down or slid down, but there are also vehicles that do not have this element at all.

On platforms where stable cargo securing is of paramount importance, various attachment points are installed. These are special buckles or rings that are used to accommodate the ropes or straps needed to secure the cargo. Platforms can also be equipped with special protective covers that are designed to prevent scratches, rust or other damage. These types of covers are often made of rubber or plastic. Furthermore, some designs also have internal storage compartments in which tools, ropes or other accessories can be stored. In addition, many platforms also have a spare wheel holder for storing a spare wheel.
